Is Boston Good for a Honeymoon?

There are many things that make Boston a great honeymoon spot, but there are also things that might deter you. Read on for our list of pros and cons for a honeymoon in Boston, MA.

Pros of a Boston Honeymoon

From historical landmarks like The Freedom Trail and Fenway Park to delicious seafood that alone is worth the trip, there's a plethora of things to do on your honeymoon. Translation: You'll never be bored.

Cons of a Boston Honeymoon

Boston has a lot to offer, but the seasonal temps may deter you. It can get quite cold during the winter, making walking around a lot more unpleasant. It's also an expensive place to stay, dine and play—but then again, so are most cities.

The Best Time to Honeymoon in Boston

The best time for a honeymoon in Boston, MA, is late spring, summer and fall. In late spring the temperatures hover around the mid-60s, making it the perfect time to walk around outside. While it does get a little hotter in the summer, there are a lot of fun activities to enjoy during those warmer months. The fall is, of course, a fantastic time to go not just because of the ideal temperatures, but also the picturesque New England foliage.

Boston Honeymoon Planning Tips

Boston is easy to travel to, with Logan International Airport less than five miles from downtown. There are plenty of public transportation options from the airport to the city center, and Uber and Lyft are readily available. There are also endless options for hotels and Airbnbs, depending on what you prefer.

You can take the T, the city's public train system, or jump in a cab or a rideshare to maneuver around the city. Or if you want to get your exercise in, you can walk to many places as well! Boston is full of history, so you'll definitely want to book tours of historical sites around the city in advance. The famous Boston Duck Tours also require a reservation, so be sure to lock that in prior to visiting. The North End is known for its delicious Italian restaurant scene, so be sure to secure a spot for dinner there. Use The Knot Vendor Marketplace to find a honeymoon planner.

What to Pack for a Boston Honeymoon

No matter what time of year you go, you'll want to pack comfortable walking shoes so you can see all the city has to offer without any foot pain. If you're coming in the winter, bundle up as temperatures can drop very low during those months. If you're coming in the spring or fall, a light jacket and a raincoat are a must. For the summer, it tends to be much warmer, but bring a light sweater as it gets chilly at night, especially by the water.
